A circle of wood, a hint of silence - and a wall that tells more than can be put into words. The work "Ukiyo" by Maldivian artist Maahy adorns the Kids Club RITZ KIDS at the RITZ-CARLTON Maldives, Fari Islands. It is not a mural, but a state: meditative, rhythmic, flowing like water.
Maahy, born in the Maldives, carries the pulse of the islands within him. His art combines the archaic of the ocean with the clarity of urban lines – Zentangle patterns, wave forms, mythical creatures between myth and modernity. His work is precise and disciplined, almost ascetic: creativity as a ritual, not a coincidence.
He finds inspiration where the world becomes quiet – at dawn, looking out to sea. “I believe that colors and shapes can create a world in which you forget the noise for a moment,” he says. His art is quiet, but it remains.
For the Seazen cover, Maahy has created his own adaptation of “Ukiyo” – a new perspective on a work that is constantly changing.

Further information:
Maahy, born in the Maldives, is one of the most exciting young artists in the Indian Ocean. After studying architecture at Taylors University in Malaysia, he developed an independent style that combines graphic precision with meditative depth. His works are inspired by the organic forms of the island world – corals, currents and plants – and fuse traditional craftsmanship with digital technology.
Maahy became known for his zentangle-like compositions, in which lines merge into lively patterns and mythical creatures. His art is a dialog between control and letting go, between structure and intuition. Clients such as The Ritz-Carlton, Jacob Lee and Marina Crossroads appreciate his ability to transform spaces into visual oases that radiate calm and curiosity at the same time.
Maahy gained international attention with the mural “Ukiyo” for the Kids Club of the Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands, which is now considered one of the resort’s most iconic works of art. In addition to his work on large-scale projects, he shares insights into his sketches and processes on Instagram (@maahyart) – quiet, disciplined and full of poetic clarity. His art remains an invitation to mindfulness – and a commitment to beauty in simplicity.
