Talk 1: Angola
Between the Atlantic and departure
Author Christina Leitner traveled to Angola together with photographer Justin Hession – a country that is as big as it is contradictory. They brought back stories of everyday life, of the laughter of children on the roadside, of encounters that create closeness, even without a common language. Justin’s pictures from Angola are among the best we have ever been able to show: intense portraits of people who still preserve their customs, their clothes and their identity today, captured with a depth that is rarely seen.
Talk 2: Oman
Between desert and roses
Author Brigitte Huggel traveled across Oman – from the fjords in the north to the heart of the Hajar Mountains. In Musandam, she discovered the tranquil beauty of Khasab and experienced the dramatic backdrop of the fjord landscapes on a dhow cruise. In Muscat, she immersed herself in the contrasts of the capital. The onward journey through the spectacular Wadi Bani Awf finally took them to Nizwa, Oman’s old capital, where history and everyday life are closely interwoven. The tour concluded with a stay on Jabal Akhdar, the “green mountain”, where roses bloom and pomegranates and apricots thrive. Marcel Gray, Oman expert and long-standing Product Manager for Arabia at Let’s go Tours, enriched the talk with his in-depth knowledge of the culture and diversity of the destination.
