From Michelin-starred cuisine to cruise dreams: off to new horizons
Just one step from the busy Bahnhofstrasse to the Genesis Studio – from the hustle and bustle to the tranquil world of South Korean automobiles and the delights that this country has to offer. Into a world where temple cuisine meets haute cuisine, where slowness is part of a fulfilled life. The contrast could hardly be greater – and that is precisely what made the Seazen summer event so magical.
Seazen author Andrin Willi took us into the world of Korean cuisine with his lively stories about Jeongkwan Snim, nun, Netflix star, and culinary ambassador. In conversation with author Hoo Nam Seelmann, who recently published a biography of Snim, Willi provided fascinating insights into the philosophy of Korean cuisine and kimchi culture in particular.
Following this, Seazen author Bettina Mitter took us on board Seabourn’s “Ovation.” Her descriptions of the cruise to European port cities made even die-hard landlubbers dream of endless horizons. Helena Ewen, Senior Business Development Representative at Seabourn, and Dario Cremona, Product Manager Ship Travel at knecht reisen, looked together into the future of cruise tourism. Where is the journey heading in terms of sustainability or overtourism were just two of the burning questions they addressed.
The crowning finale was a culinary firework display that united East and West. Dominik Hartmann, the magician at the stove with two Michelin stars under his belt, created a first-class flying dinner together with Dreierlei Catering. His Korean-inspired creations perfectly matched the theme of the successful evening.
Special thanks go to our partners Genesis, knecht reisen, and Seabourn, who made this extraordinary evening possible. Not forgetting Cornelia Mechler, who masterfully guided us through the program, as well as all the guests on stage: Andrin Willi, Hoo Nam Seelmann, Bettina Mitter, Helena Ewen, and Dario Cremona. Credit is also due to the creative minds behind the scenes: photographer Lukas Lienhard and video producer Djamel M’Rad, who visually enriched the talks.
Would you like to immerse yourself in this world? Then make a note of September 19, 2024. On this day, the Genesis Studio on Bahnhofstrasse will open its doors again, this time for the Seazen Fall Event.
