Enjoying the Sunny Side of Life: On the sunny island of Rhodes.

T he island of Rhodes does not bear its name for nothing, as in Greek mythology it is said that Zeus, the father of the gods, once gave the island to the sun god Helios, who created it from the sea. Rhodes is one of the sunniest destinations in all of Europe, with an average of 7.6 hours of sunshine per day, and in summer, even eleven to twelve hours. A true paradise for sun worshippers.

We had the pleasure of being guests on this island – guests of the gods of pleasure, relaxation, and good taste – at the Gennadi Grand Resort. This modern hideaway is located just one kilometer from the village of Gennadi, right on the Aegean Sea. From the outside, its architecture is minimalist and cool, but the heart and soul of this retreat on Rhodes are embodied by the staff. They give you a sense of true Greek hospitality – a feeling of always being taken care of, while still enjoying a great deal of privacy.

This hospitality is also reflected in the rooms, which offer ample space for you to be by yourself or together with others. Spacious and modern in design, the rooms come with a balcony, terrace, or private pool. Huge windows frame the view like paintings titled „Fauna of Colors“ or „Sea Vastness,“ drawn by the unique nature that is so cherished here.

At Gennadi, you are constantly surrounded by the element of water. With its many sparkling turquoise pools, it is a true paradise for those who love to swim – even Poseidon himself might envy the view from the sea.

Our authors will share more about their trip to Rhodes and the Gennadi Grand Resort in the upcoming spring issue.

Insider tip: The best time to visit Rhodes?
According to insiders and locals, it’s October and November. Yes, that’s right. During these months, the water still holds a wonderful summer warmth, and the island is much quieter. It’s practically calling for a summer extension. But: Pssssst! Don’t let the secret out.

Modern family spirit: with boho style & hippie vibes on Crete.

The island of Crete is a place where time seems to move a little slower, in a magical way. The pace is more relaxed, calm, and in harmony with the warm temperatures. The island exudes a „lean back lifestyle,“ which feels especially appealing on vacation, helping us feel free – free from the obligations of everyday life.

One place where this sense of freedom is particularly noticeable is the Cretan Malia Park Resort. This hotel, designed in a boho style and surrounded by hippie vibes, embodies light-heartedness and freedom that not only benefits adults but also teenagers with „The Place Club,“ complete with its own bar and cinema screen.

Nestled in Mediterranean gardens on the edge of the village of Malia, the resort sits right on the crystal-clear waters of the Mediterranean. The architects aimed to create an oasis where Greek lifestyle blends seamlessly with contemporary design. The rooms, bungalows, and suites pay homage to the island’s architectural heritage.

The casual beach bar, framed by Moroccan terracotta tiles, woven lampshades, and parasols, along with cozy lounge furniture, gives off a real boho vibe. Cretan Malia Park spoils its guests with Mediterranean delicacies – from mezze by the pool to Italian-inspired dishes at the Almyra restaurant and traditional fare at the Greek taverna Mouries.

By the way, since 2020, Cretan Malia Park has been a proud member of the renowned Design Hotels™ association.
