Unique mountain experience at the Gstaad Palace

OUI

CHEF!

Advertorial

Twelve guests, a chef, a hotelier and a sommelier with top-class wines plus high-quality ingredients, a Classic Junior Suite, a mountain hut and an open fire: these are the ingredients of the new and first „OUI Chef!“ experience from July 21 to 23, 2023. Culinary Director Franz W. Faeh will personally introduce you to the secrets of the art of eating and serve up a first-class dinner – exclusively accompanied by Andrea Scherz, General Manager and owner of the Gstaad Palace.

Reserved for 12 guests

The Gstaad Palace, the iconic hotel in the Bernese Oberland, is offering a new and unique treat this summer. The dream of taking a look behind the scenes of the Palace and its magnificent cuisine will be fulfilled over two days for a group of up to 12 guests. Head chef Franz W. Faeh will reveal his secrets of first-class enjoyment, high-quality wines, and perfect preparation.

Franz W. Faeh grew up in the Saanenland, completed his apprenticeship at the Palace, and returned to his homeland a few years ago as Culinary Director after a stellar international career in Asia. Together with Andrea Scherz, General Manager and owner of the Gstaad Palace, they will taste exquisite wines and select menus made from regional products.

Two bosses at work

The culinary experience starts on Friday, July 21 at the Gstaad Palace with a top-class 5-course dinner – perfectly matched to the wine selection. The following day, General Manager Andrea Scherz will personally don his apron and cook for his guests. Together with Culinary Director Franz W. Faeh, he will prepare the BBQ lunch. And not just anywhere, but at the Walig Hütte, situated at 1700 m above sea level, with a breathtaking mountain backdrop and views over Gstaad.

The alpine hut, which dates back to 1783, is maintained by the Gstaad Palace and can also be booked exclusively by hotel guests for an overnight stay, including fondue and Älplerzmorge.

Connoisseur of the finest plants

Master sommelier Benjamin Wolf from the „Martel“ wine shop in St. Gallen, which has been in family hands for almost 150 years, will be present on both days. Having grown up in Tuscany, the wine scout is now one of the world’s best in his field. Red wine, white wine, and champagne are served. Two icons from 2009 will play the leading role: „La Tâche“ from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti and growths from Château Lafleur in Pomerol.

During these two days, Wolf not only pours high-quality and suitable wines but also generously and willingly shares his broad expertise with the guests.

Premiere – à suivre

The new experience „OUI Chef!“ is being held for the first time this year with the prospect of an annual repeat. „We want to philosophize with our guests about cooking, oenology, and the world. This is an informal way for friends of good taste to come together. ‚OUI Chef!‘ brings guests a little closer to the art of cooking, which is practiced at the highest level at the Palace,“ explains host Andrea Scherz.

„OUI Chef!“ is a wonderfully memorable catchphrase in the Palace kitchen whenever a request flutters across the counter and the various culinary artists work together.

All-in experience

And that’s what the Palace serves with “OUI Chef!”: Two nights in a Classic Junior Suite including breakfast, exclusive 5-course wine tasting dinner on Friday, BBQ lunch at the Walig Hut on Saturday and use of the Palace Spa are included in the “OUI Chef!” experience.
The whole package is available for CHF 5,170 for two people or CHF 3,375 for one person.  Oui Chef experience
