Best-of: Gstaad Palace reveals its summer secrets

Advertorial

On June 23, the Gstaad Palace opens its doors for the summer season. Exciting and thrilling experiences will whirl through the cinematic revolving doors: rides through the Saanenland on e-bikes from the Swiss manufacturer „Thömus“, exclusive wine tastings with the best wines from „Martel“, dancing the night away in the legendary „GreenGo“ club – now with a beach vibe for everyone at the Olympic-sized „PISCINE“.

There’s lots of new things to discover and experience in the dynamic hotel on the Oberbort, which is committed to family hospitality. We present the Gstaad Palace highlights for this summer.

„Martel“ summer wine course with Christine Schmidhauser

At the beginning of September, exquisite wines can be tasted in a relaxed atmosphere at the Gstaad Palace. Christine Schmidhauser, wine lover and expert from the almost 150-year-old family-run wine shop „Martel“ in St. Gallen, shares her specialist knowledge about grape varieties and growing regions and gives specific tips on tasting techniques.

Feel the beat in the GreenGo

Even before the legendary nightclub „GreenGo“ kicks off on July 21, there’s already a „GreenGo“ warm-up – and it’s open-air. From July 1, 2023, resident DJ Jim Leblanc, who also spins in Ibiza and other hotspots, will be behind the turntables every Saturday and Sunday, inviting guests to an afternoon session between five and seven at „PISCINE.“ Admission is free.

He and his crew will bring the „GreenGo“ vibe from July 21 to August 26, on Fridays and Saturdays, starting at half past eleven sharp. On July 21 and 22, the Swiss Open in Gstaad will be celebrated with a party, and on August 19, the „GreenGo“ will host the afterparty of the POLO Gala Night.

Mountain picnic with regional delicacies

A very special service highlight awaits nature lovers in the Premium Collection hotels: a local Experience Concierge provides outdoor fans with insider tips on the most beautiful hiking routes or the perfect diving spot. Individually tailored experiences can also be organized on request – from yoga on a mountain peak to an exclusive sailing trip and spectacular views during a hot air balloon flight.

e-bikes from „Thömus”: made in Switzerland

Traverse the Saanenland on two wheels: This summer, it will be child’s play thanks to the new fleet of high-end e-bikes from Thömus, „made in Switzerland.“ The Emmental brand has already made it onto the Olympic podium with Mathias Flückiger, who regularly climbs the winners’ podium on Thömus bikes. The Palace fleet includes the „Lightrider E2“ for downhill trails and the all-rounder „Longrider E2,“ which is perfect for long tours.

With skill at the Gstaad Palace Challenge

The Gstaad Palace Challenge is taking place for the eighth time in August. A rally – created by hotel owner and car enthusiast Andrea Scherz – for connoisseurs with historic cars, all dating from between 1950 and 1990. Thirty classic car fans will be racing against each other on the last weekend in August.

It’s all about the Olympics: the joy of driving comes first, and winning is secondary in this challenge. Guests from Gstaad are also cordially invited to the aperitif at the finish line.

Walig Hütte: magical time out on the alp

The charming and authentic alpine hut is situated at 1700 m above sea level, offering breathtaking views of the mountains and Gstaad. Built in 1783, the Walig Hut now serves as a retreat for guests of the Gstaad Palace – whether for lunch, dinner, or even an overnight stay including an Älplerzmorge. The spectacular surroundings, with views of the Diablerets massif and the boundless tranquility, create an experience that will stay with you forever – complete with the gentle sound of Simmental cow bells from the nearby pastures.

Further summer highlights at the Gstaad Palace:

  • Gildo is back: a restaurant has even been named after him – Gildo Bocchini, the former Maître d’Hôtel of the Gstaad Palace.
On July 8, he returns for a guest appearance and treats guests to a special Italian menu – and with luck, a few arias as a supplement.
  • Fondue Oldenhorn: Switzerland without cheese? Unimaginable! That’s why the racy national dish “Fondue” is served in the secluded garden with a view of the Oldenhorn. This experience can also be booked by external guests.
  • Open Air Palace Brunch: The perfect Sunday: a lavish brunch in the sun, even including a barbecue at the Palace. Every Sunday, July 6 to August 13, dry weather permitting.
  • Sammy invites the little ones: The Palace mascot, Sammy the dog, has put together an entertaining children’s program in his Kids Club: While the little ones can enjoy movie nights and let off steam in the bouncy castle throughout the season, there are also unique highlights such as pizza baking (July 22), a family scavenger hunt (August 5) and the 8th Kids Grand Prix (August 6).
  • Swiss National Day: celebrate Switzerlands 732nd birthday together with the Scherz family in Gstaad. Switzerland’s 732nd birthday: with an aperitif, four-course menu and fireworks. August 1, 2023.
